President Ulysses S. Grant Home, Congressman Elihu B. Washburne Home, several parks and neighborhood homes near the Grant Home and The Old Market House Welcome Center on Commerce Street are all part of the Galena State Historic Sites. These sites are part of the 58 state-owned historic sites and memorials administered by the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency.

The Grant Home is open Wednesday - Sunday from 9:00 a.m. - 4:45 p.m. Last tour starts at 4:45 p.m. Winter hours at the Grant Home are 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. November - March. The Old Market House Welcome Center is open daily from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. The sites are also closed on New Year's, Martin Luther King, Jr., Presidents, Veterans, General Election, Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. Group reservations are recommended.
The Washburne House is now open every Friday from 10am - 4pm May through October. Guided tours are given by The International Order of Questers, Galena Belles Chapter 1304. For more information call 815/777-3310.
